Scion FR-S Speedster
Toyota Racing will debut a convertible GT86 in the shape of the Scion FR-S Speedster at the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach. Even before the Toyota GT 86 hit the roads we were expecting a convertible version to be not far behind. In fact, Toyota’s chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada, confirmed last month that the GT86 / Subaru BRZ / Scion FR-S was conceived as a convertible and that Toyota are working on a production version.
In the great scheme of things, a facelift for the Renault Megane is hardly the most exciting news to come out of the Frankfurt Motor Show, but then this is 'Germany's show' and the Megane is a decidedly French car. But with the arrival of the new Clio and the Captur, the Megane was looking a little out of place in the Renault stable. So the facelift simply brings the Megane into line.
Jaguar has pulled a surprise with the reveal of a more focused, and expensive, XKR ahead of the New York Auto Show – the Jaguar XKR-S GT. The XKR-S GT doesn’t get extra power – the XKR-S already has 542bhp – but it does get lots of tweaks to make it more able to use the performance it has. That means a new bonnet with more vents to improve cooling, a new carbon fibre front splitter, new rear diffuser, an aluminium undertray at the front, a whopping great spoiler at the back and bits of carbon fibre floating around.
